Carolina Dance Collaborative Afterschool Programs
About this program
YMCA Recreational Dance: We provide dance classes through the YMCA's of Greenville and the YMCA of Powdersville. These classes are held in the following locations:
-Caine Halter Family YMCA
-George I. Theisen Family YMCA
-Eastside Family YMCA
-Verde YMCA
-Powdersville YMCA
After-School Dance Classes: We provide dance classes through our school partners during their after-school programs. These programs are mobile to the schools and end with a presentation/performance at the end of the semester. The schools/clubs we are currently partnered with are:
-Faith Montessori
-Adora Childcare
-Buncombe St. Child Development Center
-East Link Academy
-Christ Church Episcopal School
-Christ Church Preschool
-Augusta Road Baptist Preschool
-Goddard School
-Creative Arts Academy at the Kroc Center
-Wheatley Montessori School
-The Salvation Army's Boys and Girls Club
Adaptive Program: To ensure dance education is accessible to all we provide adaptive dance classes through our partners. The classes that fall under these programs are:
-Classes with the Down Syndrome Association
-Spring Connect at the Kroc Center
- Special Education Residencies in Greenville County High Schools
-Adaptive Community Performances (Thriller flash mob and Christmas performance)
Residency: CDC collaborates with classroom teachers to create a curriculum combining dance with math, science, history, language arts, and other art forms based on State, Core, and National Standards. Give your students a kinesthetic approach to learning, aiding in their understanding in a deeper way through embodying the material. One week or longer residencies are suggested. At the end of the week, students perform for their peers, teachers, parents, and administration as they demonstrate what they learned throughout the week.
Workshops: When requested CDC can hold dance sessions at community events. We will hold brief sessions of fun movement at events or requested locations.
Birthday Parties: CDC will provide a dance class at a requested birthday party. These classes include themed music, costumed teachers and crafts.
